One of my very earliest childhood memories is that of my family dancing to vinyl records on an old record player in our living room. With each shiny, glossy circle symbolizing more laughing - more dancing. Later becoming the inspiration behind my ‘circle’ series, memories like these and the environments of those experiences are paramount to my practice. With each composition being a visual abstraction of a mental snapshot, my hope is that my work provides the viewer with new meaning and perspective to familiar forms and colors.

We’re constantly bombarded with faux realism and direct marketing through social media and contemporary means of advertising. My work aims to provide the viewer with an escape or a sense of solitude by reducing one’s environment to it’s most essential geometries - producing a universal language of shapes and hues that at their very core, are organic forms embedded within the fabric of the world around us.

I’ve always been in complete awe of the sheer beauty by which nature randomly creates patterns. The natural look of a field or forest contains such a dynamic spectrum of beautiful and complex attributes. It’s fascinating to me, because I know it wasn’t manipulated in any way to attain a certain aesthetic. It’s real. It’s hard to forget how small we really are while looking up quietly and humbly in an ancient forest land like the Rockies or the redwood forest in big sur. Listening to those giant old trees creak and sway in the pacific winds may change your perspective on this life.

As early as I can remember I felt at home drawing, painting, and making sculptures out of found objects. Though my true passion was always art - the first act of my life consisted of a 15 year career in real estate that came to an end after the financial crash of 2008. I wish I would’ve followed and pursued my passions for art before I was given this second chance. Now looking back, I’m grateful that it happened because it was the beginning of my new life. There is always time to pursue a dream or an idea you fully believe in and are passionate about. Where you are now - will be a memory when you get where you want to be.
